Quick actions to lower memory usage and make Windows feel more responsive without deep system changes.

These quick fixes cut memory usage immediately, so your PC feels faster without diving into complex settings.

Fix #1 (2 minutes): Restart the Top Memory Hog

Open Task Manager, sort by Memory, and restart the top consumer (right-click → End task). Many browsers, IDEs, and containers reclaim a lot of RAM when restarted.

Fix #2 (3 minutes): Close Unused Browser Tabs/Extensions

Close tabs you don’t need and disable extensions you rarely use. Browsers are often the biggest RAM users on modern systems.

Fix #3 (4 minutes): Reduce Startup Programs

Open Task Manager → Startup and disable programs you don’t need immediately after boot. This keeps RAM available for the apps you actually use.

Fix #4 (5 minutes): Adjust Virtual Memory

Open System → About → Advanced system settings → Performance → Advanced → Virtual memory → Change and either let Windows manage it or set a custom range (1.5× to 3× RAM). This prevents the system from running out of memory.

Fix #5 (5 minutes): Run a Memory Diagnostic

Search for Windows Memory Diagnostic, run it, and reboot. If it flags errors, you likely have failing RAM that needs replacement.
